Amp’d Mobile Bankruptcy may Slow Adult Content Launch
ALISO VIEJO, CA — The future of mobile adult entertainment is once again being placed on hold. Although the possibility of introducing erotic material to subscribers was discussed at an Amp’d Mobile industry analyst meeting in March, a June 1st Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing doesn’t bode well for that actually happening.Currently, no mobile carriers provide erotic content for subscribers, although Amp’d has offered still images of fully dressed adult performers and models to its estimated 175,000 customers. Alas, with nearly 80,000 of those individuals refusing to pay their bills, expansion is unlikely during the immediate future.
While struggling to improve infamously poor customer service, experts expect the company to proceed cautiously in an attempt to keep remaining paying customers while luring new subscribers with better service.
With a service audience ranging from 18 – 35 years of age and Venture Capitalists including MTV Networks and Universal Music Group, interest in saucy content would likely be high, but a risk to offer during reorganization.
Members of the wireless industry trade group CTIA have agreed to withhold launch of any sexual materials for mobile devices until effective age-verification technology has been developed and implemented.
