America’s Most Lustful Cities Are Not Where You’d Expect
USA — With Valentine’s Day, America’s most romantically stressful and entirely commercially-created holiday looming on the horizon, citizens may be wondering where the most lusty cities in the country are. New York City? San Francisco? Porn valley’s greater Los Angeles area? The city billed as Sin City but known as Las Vegas? Nope, nope, nope, and nope. You’re more likely to get lucky in Cincinnati, OH or San Antonio, TX.According to ACNielsen, the cities sporting the most active sex lives are not necessarily those with the most successful tourist marketing campaigns. By evaluating condom and contraceptive purchases at a variety of grocery and drug stores located in the country’s 50 largest cities during a 52 week period, the research firm was able to piece together the puzzle that Forbes Magazine calls “America’s 10 Most Lustful Cities.”
While the typical city scored a 100, Denver, CO proved itself a serious size queen by rising above the rest, with an impressive 289 – which means that there were 189-percent more contraceptives sold there during the year than in the average city of comparable size. Also packing it in were Seattle, WA, Washington D.C., and internet anti-porn registry hosting Salt Lake City, UT.
Big talking, self-hyping metropolitan areas used to getting plenty of attention can still be found – but far down the list with average or even below average scores.
While Forbes admits that contraceptive purchases aren’t a perfect measure of sexual activity – especially for the lusty monogamous or same-sex citizen – they do give researchers an idea about where people are taking it off and getting it on. They also provide hints about the city’s possible demographics. Dr. Kees Rietmeijer, the director for the Sexually Transmitted Diseases Control Program at Denver’s Public Health Department suggests that high rates of condom purchases in the city may be a sign that the city is filled with young horndogs hip to the safer sex message that his department has been aggressively promoting.
Somewhat less lusty, but still plenty active, are San Antonio, TX and Portland, OR in a second-place tie. Each proudly boasts a 227 total score, indicating a 127-percent higher sale of contraceptives than in other, comparably sized but less pheromone enhanced cities. Interestingly enough, a greater percentage of women in Portland are making investments in their ongoing sexual adventures than in San Antonio – with the former’s women scoring a 325 compared to the latter’s 202. Frankly, the randy women of Portland outpace the randy men of either city – with San Antonio’s male score reaching 231 and Portland’s trailing at 212.
Also in the Pacific Northwest is city number four; Seattle, WA, with a total score of 224 – and once again more women than men purchasing contraceptives. Smack-dab in the center are Salt Lake City, UT and Boise, ID with matching 207 scores. In sixth place is the nation’s capital, with a score of 189. Lucky number seven is filled with another tie, this time between Cincinnati and Columbus, OH, each with scores of 170. Strangely enough, the Forbes’ online report skips city number eight entirely, moving to Baltimore, MD at position number nine and a score of 160. Rounding out “America’s 10 Most Lustful Cities” is a third tie, featuring Buffalo and Rochester, NY with scores of 154 each.
Travel agents, hotel reservation clerks, and contraceptive sales representatives in the above-mentioned hyper-sexy cities have hopefully been placed on Valentine’s Day alert.
