Alternative Adult Social Network Monetizes Content
LOS ANGELES – A year-old social media monetization service has embraced a new mobile platform it claims is a safe, sensible alternative to adult-unfriendly photo networks like Snapchat, Vine and Instagram.
The platform, called MeWe, is a private social network that allows users to communicate and post uncensored images and videos.
“This new app we’re using is fantastic,” SnapGirlz Chief Executive Officer Nick Stone said. “It allows talent the ability to post pictures, video clips and voice notes exclusively to their own community of fans and charge for [the content].”
Both Vine and Snapchat have closed adult performers’ accounts without warning, saying they do not allow explicit material. Performers lost years-worth of content they had uploaded to the networks. Stone and many performers fear Instagram may be next.
“Though the content in MeWe isn’t ephemeral, our fans have rejoiced knowing that they have access to all previous content, which is always available to them,” Stone said. “We’re the perfect next step if talent have a large Instagram following and are afraid their account might be deleted due to what they show [in their feed].”
Stone said SnapGirlz continues to work with talent to customize an experience tailored to each performer.
“SnapGirlz allows me to charge a monthly membership to my fans for content I can’t post on Instagram and don’t show for free on Twitter,” said Dakota Skye. “It’s safe, fun and the fact that I can interact with all my members in one place makes it really cool.”
