“Almost Adult” iGirl App Hits iTunes, Apple’s App Store
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A new application that allows iPhone and iPod Touch users to manipulate a 3D model in ways Apple might not approve nonetheless has found its way into the Apple App Store and onto iTunes.Resistor Productions’ iGirl application became available on Apple’s commercial websites Tuesday. It sells for $1.99 and may be downloaded at this link: http://tinyurl.com/benc4o — or at least it resided at that link Wednesday. There is some speculation it may not be available for long once Apple discovers the app allows users to interact with the model in ways that got the iBoobs app banned (http://tinyurl.com/cwjutu).
According to Resistor, “the iGirl application consists of a beautiful 3-dimensional female model that can be manipulated by the user to perform various actions, including dancing and speaking. Users can interact with iGirl on their iPhones and iPod Touches by shaking the device and touching the screen.”
It’s the “shaking the screen” part that may cause trouble. According to the developer, in addition to modifying the girl’s hair color, skin color, clothing and language, the iGirl also allows users to jiggle various “body parts.”
“Obviously full adult apps will not be approved [by Apple],” Resistor Chief Operating Officer Tobias Batton told AVN Online. “We are working on some other apps right now that have adult themes, or at least ‘counterculture’ subject matter. We have done much research on what Apple will approve or not approve. All of our apps will fall within Apple’s guidelines, but some will obviously have age limits set by Apple. Our goal is always to respect Apple, their user base and their rules. So, we were able to pass Apple’s review board.”
