Allie Haze: Living the Porn Life
By Peter Berton
LOS ANGELES – Porn starlet Allie Haze seems to be going from strength to strength. Blessed with a girl-next-door look, she graced the pages of Penthouse as the magazine’s January 2014 Pet of the Month.
Before that, she played Princess Leia in Vivid’s Star Wars XXX: A Porn Parody. The role won her a Best Actress – Parody award and an XCritic Fans Choice Award.
Success doesn’t seem to have spoiled Haze in the slightest. She’s just as vivacious and friendly in person as she seems on film. YNOT.com chatted with her about how she maintains her composure in the fishbowl that is adult entertainment.
YNOT: 2014 is going well for you so far, isn’t it?
Allie Haze: I am so ecstatic to become a part of the Penthouse family, and to kick off 2014 [for the magazine] is an even bigger bonus. Shooting my layout with one of my favorite photographers was so much fun, and I am sure the fans will be pleased. I cannot wait to do some amazing things with [Penthouse] throughout the year, so stay turned.
That’s been only one of the high points of your career so far, though.
Over the years I have had so many amazing opportunities and met so many wonderful people. I just had the opportunity to be in a B.O.B. music video, which was so much fun. The song is called “John Doe.” Be sure to check it out.
How did you get into porn?
I joined the business because I was a lesbian before I became a bisexual. Even though I wanted to date men, I wasn’t going to give up on how awesome sex with a women is.
I found the adult business cured my itching to want a safe, fun way to be able to have sex with chicks without having to put in all the work of picking up on them at bars, only to find out they really didn’t want to have sex. I guess you could say I understand what it means when a guy says it’s hard to hit on women. [She laughs]
We hear there’s a story behind the stage name “Allie Haze.”
Everyone chooses their name somehow, and mine’s not much of a story, I guess.
I was originally just going to start by doing some webcam work. I was told it’s best to choose a name at the beginning of the alphabet, because everything is listed alphabetically. That got me to thinking. Soccer was my sport growing up. I have played since I was four years old and went on to coach a junior high team when I was younger. My favorite team as a child was the Alley Cats; hence, I became Allie and I think we all know what Haze means.
What was it like to shoot your first scene?
My first boy-girl scene was shot by Reality Kings, and I worked with Ramon Nomar.
I don’t remember being nervous, and everyone on set was so welcoming. It was such fun, and Ramon was so patient. I learned a lot that day, not only about the business, but about myself also.
What are the pros and cons of working in porn, for you?
Well, one of the biggest pros is being able to make your own schedule and choose the projects you work on.
There aren’t too many cons within the business — mostly how we are perceived or the stereotype that is put on us.
What’s next on your agenda?
I am working on some big things this year and aiming to give the fans a side of me they have never seen before, so be on the lookout.
What are your long-term goals?
The adult business will always have a special place in my life, and I hope to venture out into directing and producing soon and see where that can take me. I am also hoping to expand my acting abilities.
I like to take things one day at a time. It makes life more interesting.
What is one thing few people know about you?
I am not sure if there really is anything people don’t already know. After five years of being in nothing but my skin, there is not much I can hide!
