Alia Janine: Nothing Average About Her
YNOT – Very little about Alia Janine is “average.” Her shapely 5’11”, size 6 body is extra-tall. Her 36FF breasts are all-natural. She earned a degree in criminal justice. She keeps a pet tarantula.
And her stage name is her real name.
A native of Milwaukee, Wis., Janine got her start in adult entertainment 14 years ago at the age of 20. Her first appearance in an adult flick occurred in 2009, when she played a role in Mamazon (The Score Group). Since then, she has appeared in more than 100 scenes on both film and websites.
Her bubbly, good-natured personality makes her Twitter stream and blog popular. It also makes for a good interview, as YNOT discovered when we spoke with her.
YNOT.com: How did you get into the adult entertainment industry?
Alia Janine: I was a dancer on and off for about 10 years. Once I decided I wanted to feature dance, I moved to Florida to attend a dance school. A friend I used to dance with had posed for Score magazine and suggested I work with them to get more credits for featuring.
I posed for the magazine and they really wanted me for the movie Mamazon. I thought about it and decided I probably have done crazier things, so that became my first adult feature film. I really enjoyed myself, in more ways than one, and here I am.
What do you enjoy most about being an adult entertainer?
I’m a huge fan of sex. I’m also a huge fan of money. I get off on people watching me have sex. I like to travel, meet knew people and have an open schedule. It seems like the most logical career choice. [laugh]
Social media is “the thing” these days. What have you been doing to reach out to your fans?
Like many other adult entertainers, I have gone above and beyond in the social media arena. I have a profile up on almost every social media platform there is. Keeping everything updated is a job in itself but, it’s nice to know I have so many people that respond to me. That makes the time I spend on social media worth it.
Share some of your favorite moments from your career to date.
I have quite a few, actually. I got to work with Nina Hartley and Ginger Lynn — not together, but it was still pretty awesome. I also have had the pleasure of working with a plethora of other amazing entertainers. I’ve been on radio shows, been nominated for a few awards, I’m in books, I’m on box covers and I have a ton fans. Pretty much the whole experience has been a wonderful ride.
Your official website is free, not a membership site. Why?
I went through having my own pay site, but in the end it really wasn’t worth the trouble for me. Although I enjoyed the idea of having a membership site, you really need to have people you can trust to help you, and those can be hard to find.
My blog does really well, though. One of my posts concerning condoms in the industry was featured on a few other blog sites.
I promote pretty much everything I do constantly, using all of my social media outlets. My fans are the best; they provide lots of positive feedback. They take care of me, so I try to take care of them.
Where do you go from here? Any future plans you can talk about?
I have so many projects and new ideas it’s hard to tell where any of them will take me. I have a master plan for when the time is right, but I have some time before that comes.
The only direction I’ll go is up; that’s why I work so hard. And hopefully the future will include a big dog. That’s the only thing I’m really iffy on.
