Adult Time Announces Bree Mills Biopic, ‘Teenage Lesbian’
Montreal, QC — Adult Time is pleased to announce pre-production on a new original feature, Teenage Lesbian. The autobiographical coming-of-age story was written and will be directed by Bree Mills.
Based on the team at YNOT’s best assessment, this will mark the first biopic to come from within the industry, as well as the first time a person has written and directed their own story in this manner. (Mainstream efforts to give industry personalities the biopic treatment is not what we’re getting at here.)
The feature will be released this September as both a mainstream R-rated film and an X-rated three-episode series within Adult Time. Set in the 1990s, the story unfolds as a series of memories of an 18-year-old lesbian as she gradually comes to terms with her sexual orientation during her final year of high school. Award-winning actress Kristen Scott has been tapped for the lead role, which is directly inspired by true-life events.
“I wanted to tackle a coming-of-age story that would set a new standard for authenticity within the traditional lesbian genre. It had to be real in its portrayal of lesbian sexuality and the struggles of coming out, not just glossy fluff or shot from a male gaze,” Mills said.
“Teenage Lesbian is a film about what it was like to be young and gay in the pre-Ellen era, the final decade before gay rights became a public conversation,” she continued. “Ultimately, I decided the best way to portray this was simply to tell my own story.”
Mills knew she had to find the right actorto bring her story to life, and Scott was the principle choice from the beginning. After discussing the project earlier this year, they have been quietly developing the character to also connect her to Scott’s own sexual coming-of-age experiences, as well as rounding out the rest of the all-star cast which will include Alina Lopez, Kenna James, Aidra Fox, Whitney Wright, Kendra Spade, Emily Willis and many other notable adult performers in both sex and non-sex roles.
“I am absolutely thrilled to have been cast as the lead in this project,” Scott said. “I always love having the opportunity to work with Bree, so to be able to play such a significant role in a story that is so personal to her is such an honor. I just can’t wait to bring this coming of age story to life!”
Scheduled for release on Adult Time for all lesbian fans to enjoy, including members of Gamma Films’ Girlsway studio, Teenage Lesbian aims to offer viewers a potent reminder about the power of unconditional acceptance in a world fraught with divisiveness, criticism and judgment.
