Adult Store Owner Pleads Guilty on Tax Evasion Charges
ARLINGTON, TX – Adult bookstore operator Leroy Moore Jr. pleaded guilty on Wednesday in federal court on one charge of conspiracy to commit tax evasion. He will be sentenced on October 3rd, and faces up to 5 years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines.Moore was one of seven individuals indicted by a federal grand jury in Dallas, Texas on March 14th. In addition to Moore, the indictment also named well known Colorado businessman Edward Wedelstedt of Goalie Entertainment Holdings, Inc. Charges in the 23-count indictment included tax evasion, racketeering and obscenity.
As part of the plea deal, Moore admitted to receiving income from the operation of his video stores that was not reported on tax returns. Included in the unreported income, Moore said that he received cash payments from his business partner Kay Van Dusen, and that Van Dusen sometimes paid for Moore’s personal expenses.
Van Dusen was also named in the original indictment.
A trial is set for next January to decide the charges against Wedelstedt, Van Dusen and the other individuals named in the March indictment.
