Adult Shops Raided, Thousands of DVDs Seized
AUSTRALIA — Considering the astonishing attempts at sanitizing the culture of Australia, one would be hard pressed to remember that it was forcibly colonized by prisoners banished to the island for crimes both real or imagined. Two adult entertainment shops in North Wyon and Tumbi Umbi, however, have recently learned that as far as the government is concerned, they’re on the wrong end of the morality stick. At issue are approximately 2,500 DVDs which are believed to be illegally classified and placed on sale.
The DVDs were taken into protective custody after two simultaneous raids along the Central Coast, inspired by suspicion that they contain RC or X18+ content.
Search warrants were given to officers from Tuggerah Lakes Drug and Anti-Theft, Licensing and Target Action Group (TAG) squads, which promptly put them into action, thus bringing the presumably socially dangerous discs to justice.
Among those sorted are said to be 1,182 unclassified, XXX and X18+ rated DVDs removed from the North Wyong shop. The Tumbi Umbi business saw 1,615 DVDs taken forcibly off the premises.
Now residing in the Wyong Police Station, the discs are destined for the Office of Film and Classification, which will determine whether they are nefarious enough to warrant further legal action.
According to Australia.to, the shops are both under investigation and their owners are expected to be called before the court on charges of possession, sale or public exhibition of an RC or X18+ classified film.
