Adult Industry Resolutions for 2014
By Peter Berton
CYBERSPACE – New Year’s Day: Traditionally, it’s a time of new beginnings; of resolving to make changes, of beginning new projects, of looking forward with hope and high spirits.
People in the adult entertainment industry are no different from anyone else in that regard … which caused YNOT.com to wonder what New Year’s resolutions industry insiders planned to make for 2014.
Here are a few.
Dominatrix Lalani Electrica
My resolutions for 2014 are to expand and acquire an even better space for my work and to work with other ladies to make [my business interests] more successful. I just began providing videotaped live sessions, which I thoroughly enjoy. I’m committed to remaining productive and expanding my shows to include live stage shows incorporating S&M, burlesque, eroticism and other performing arts, so [the shows are] a complete package to take to the stage.
Busty model and performer Minka
I’ll probably to make a few more movies than I have during the past few years.
Producer-director Lucas Kazan
We intend to better monetize our mobile traffic, thus far confined to iPhones and iPads. We have long neglected Android’s market penetration and with it, our customers’ right to watch their porn on all platforms and devices. I’m not sure whether “responsive design” is the way to go, but we’re researching options and have made this a top priority.
Sabrina Dropkick, Pipedream Products’ media relations coordinator
We are always working to expand our global distribution network, and we’ll continue to do this in 2014. Everything we do is to maintain our reputation as the No. 1 adult novelty manufacturer in the world.
Kelly Shibari, BBW performer, sex-positive activist and Fine Ass Marketing executive
I don’t usually do New Year’s resolutions, mainly because I work on a multi-year plan. However, if I were to create one, it would be to continue to concentrate on the positive.
There are simply too many people, especially in this industry, who dwell on the negative — and it shows in their work, their networks and their standing within the industry. Taking things too personally is not only unprofessional, but detrimental to my work.
The decision to see things from a compassionate, positive angle really worked in 2013. Eliminating the negative swiftly resulted in better connections and better results. My curiosity and consistent need to widen my scope and be open to changes and fluctuations also resulted in some amazing new opportunities, and I intend to continue that throughout 2014.
Jiz Lee, genderqueer performer and online marketing director for Pink & White Productions
We’re constantly trying to do our best, and [in 2014] we’ll see a lot of new projects launch — ones that encourage new filmmakers, educate industry professionals and expand our company vision.
Comedian and adult toy designer Sheridan “Shed” Simove
My mantras are: “If you throw enough stuff at the wall, some of it will stick,” “Seek out the best people to work with, as two brains are better than one” and “It’s called a mistake because you always take something from it.”
