Adult Industry Members Challenged to ‘Get Your Cartwheel On’
TORRANCE, Calif. – Another potentially embarrassing public display of good-natured foolishness for a good cause has erupted across the web, dragging the adult entertainment industry into its nutty web.
At least no ice water is required this time.
Similar in concept to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, Cartwheels of Compassion is designed to provide much-needed donations to a charitable organization. In this case, the charity is the Never Forgotten Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created with the sole purpose of bringing a smile to the face of those less fortunate. The organization provides unconditional resources and aid to the poverty-stricken and underprivileged, as well as victims of disaster worldwide.
“NFF is here to ensure no one becomes a statistic, stays lost or becomes forgotten,” the organization’s website notes.
Steve Bryson, founder of NFF and chief executive officer of payment processor OrbitalPay, hopes Cartwheels of Compassion results in a social media landslide like the one that catapulted the Ice Bucket Challenge into a brief-but-exhilarating part of the popular culture.
“We were sitting in our office discussing all of the ways OrbitalPay could become more active in the community, and this idea was born,” Bryson said. “Knowing how foolish guys like [OrbitalPay] sales representative] Lee Bond and I look doing cartwheels, we thought it would be a hilarious way for people to show some humility and support humanity.”
Funds generated by the Cartwheels of Compassion challenge will benefit five charitable causes: breast cancer research and awareness, support for victims of domestic violence, drug prevention and abuse recovery, aid for veterans and research to find a cure for childhood leukemia.
Participating in the challenge tax deductible and easy, according to OrbitalPay Vice-President Jordan Stewart:
- Record yourself pledging to support any of the five charitable causes.
- Continue recording while you show off your best cartwheel.
- Don’t stop recording until you have challenged a few of your colleagues, friends or family members to do the same.
- Upload your video to your social media profiles and tag friends and OrbitalPay LLC along with the hashtags #CartwheelsOfCompassion and #OrbitalPayChallenge.
- Make a donation through the NFF website.
“As an industry, let’s unite and get our cartwheel on,” Campbell said. “Make a difference and make a promise to participate in Cartwheels of Compassion and encourage those around you to do the same.”
