Adult Filmmaker Salaff Not Out of the Woods Yet in Panama Porn Case
JOYITO, PANAMA – Frederick Salaff, AKA Clayton Blacquemoor, is out of prison in Panama on a conditional release for medical reasons, but one charge is still pending from his arrest in January.Salaff and his company, Rio Bueno, LTD, SA, were originally charged with coercing prostitutes to perform in his adult productions, failing to obtain and file the proper paperwork to film adult movies in Panama, and not taking proper measures to prevent minors from being exposed to sexual activity.
All but the final charge, regarding exposure of minors to sexual activity (a charge which stems from children in the neighborhood allegedly climbing trees to watch filming taking place in Salaff’s back yard), were subsequently dropped, almost immediately following the arrest.
“As you know I am out of jail on a conditional release for medical reasons,” Salaff wrote in a recent email updating his situation. “If the prosecution should decide to send me back for a reevaluation and if a doctor thinks I am fine I can be sent back to one of the worst prisons systems in Central and South America. If I am found guilty (a possibility in Panama where people are convicted on NO evidence) I can receive a sentence of 8-12 years because children under the age of 10 years told lies.”
Various sources have alleged serious malfeasance in the handling of the case, including allegations of document fraud, use of an illegal search warrant, and police misconduct. These allegations are supported by assertions made in a letter from Modesto Alvarez, the Corregidor (magistrate) of Veracruz province, to David Cáceres, Mayor of Arraijan, Panama.
Information concerning an ongoing fundraising effort on Salaff’s behalf is available on Salaff’s website, http://www.fredsalaff.com
“We desperately need about $10,000 to finish and file the legal briefs, hire assistant lawyers and do whatever it takes to get the charges dropped, Salaff said. “Personally, I am getting by on some internet consulting work, but it is only enough for bare living expenses.”
