Adult DVD Empire Seeks Patent for New VOD Features
WARRENDALE, PA – Adult DVD Empire, among the top-selling video-on-demand (VOD) services in the adult sector, has announced new enhancements to its pay-per-minute VOD system, which includes two technologies for which the company is seeking patents.According to a company press release, their new “MyFlix” technology was designed to be used in conjunction with the “MyClips” technology Empire unveiled in October of last year. Both technologies have been officially registered with the United States Patent Office as of January 18 of this year, according to the company’s release.
MyClips enables users to select and save “customized” video clips and store them in the customer’s account settings for quick future access, without having to search the content for their favorite scenes, and providing the user with the ability to effectively “edit” the scene down to the precise action they want to see.
“For example,” Empire stated in its press release, “if you enjoy a particular Jenna Jameson sex act — and don’t particularly care for the remainder of the scene — you can capture just the action you want to see, save it to your ‘MyClips’ section (all done from the viewing window itself), and view that specific section of video without accessing the entire movie.”
According to Empire’s release, the “MyFlix” technology works hand in hand with MyClips, providing customers with the ability to “create ‘custom’ streaming videos containing their favorite video content that has been saved in their ‘MyClips’ library.” Users can thus create a “highlight reel” of content, which they return to view later without having to access each movie, or each clip, individually.
“Our customer experience is second to none,” said Empire’s Director of Adult Operations Mike Barry. “We want customers to enjoy our entire library of content. However, when they find something they like they shouldn’t have to waste their ‘paid-for’ minutes finding that specific content all over again.”
“With over 14,000 streaming titles available,” added Barry, “this can be quite a time-saver.”
Empire said that in addition to MyClips and MyFlix, they have registered several “community functions” with the US Patent Office. The new features, which are set to launch in February, include the use of tagging, the ability to share MyClips and MyFlix content publicly, the use of RSS feeds, and other “exciting features that are designed to promote a sense of community among users,” according to Empire’s release.
