Adult Copyright Watchdog Makes Google’s Top List
YNOT – Adult industry copyright watchdog Takedown Piracy was named to Google Inc.’s list of top copyright-infringement reporters within the past month. TDP came in fourth on the list of the top five companies and organizations requesting URLs be removed from Google’s search results, behind mainstream watchdog Marketly llc, BPI Ltd. (the British recorded music industry’s watchdog) and Hollywood giant NBC/Universal.
One of TDP’s clients, adult studio Elegant Angel, made the list of copyright owners most often claiming infringement. EA also sat fourth, behind Microsoft Corp., NBC/Universal and BPI.
The statistics are part of Google’s May 25 Transparency Report, which reveals the organizations submitting removal requests for links to allegedly infringing content.
Takedown Piracy owner Nate Glass views the list as validation for his outfit’s efforts on behalf of companies mainstream piracy watchdogs probably wouldn’t touch.
“Much of our effectiveness may be attributed to persistence,” Glass said. “It’s that persistence which has us in the same company as NBC/Universal and BPI for sheer volume of infringement reports to Google. Actions speak louder than words, and I’m proud our clients can look on Google and see what we’ve done for them.”
Created by Nate Glass in 2009, Takedown Piracy claims to have been instrumental in the removal of more than 6.5 million infringements of copyrighted adult material.
