MILAN, ITALY – A former pilot who turned his appreciation of online porn into a self-starter translation business, Moreno (or Mo, as his friends call him) translates adult websites from English to Italian, providing a service that goes beyond the standard translation. His background in aviation enabled him to become familiar with the United States and start growing his future business. “I have been translating documents, manuals and websites for the past 6 years. In January I decided to do this full time,” Mo explained via email.

Located in Milan, Italy, Mo works closely with each of his clients to fulfill their specific needs. “Beyond the site translation, I also assist my clients with e-mail sent by their members and I answer for them. I am not an agency nor a website that offers several languages, I am a real guy from Italy always available to my clients. There is no middle man with me.”

“I’ve been a surfer for years, and when I started my translation business I realized that the market was very competitive, however, I think there is less competition for me in the adult industry than in mainstream. Also it’s easy for me to translate these kinds of topics, and fortunately my vocabulary is pretty rich.”

As is typical for newcomers to the industry, Mo found information overload to be a problem at first. “Then, one night when I was surfing the net, I googled “adult webmaster resources.” I went through many different websites and I that’s when I found YNOT. Mo is enthusiastic about his experiences thus far with the industry, and still reasonably cautious. “It’s been surprising…in a positive way! “What would you think if I told you that Ilona Staller aka “Cicciolina”, the famous Italian-Hungarian porn-star, was a member of the Italian Parliament from 1987 until 1992? She was legally voted in and elected with the radical party. I can say that adult entertainment in Italy is definitely accepted. It’s not unusual to see porn-stars appearing in TV shows, clubs, swingers scenes, sex-shops, etc. There aren’t strip bars like we see here in the US, only a few clubs in Italy have strippers. I am pretty confident when I say that people are pretty open minded and accepting of the adult entertainment industry and its people.”

According to the demand for Mo’s Italian translation services, it appears Italians are a growing segment of consumers of online porn. Although specialized in Italian, Mo’s service offers translation for more than 20 languages.
