Adam & Eve Survey Captures Revealing Look at Masturbation
YNOT – Never one to shy away from asking the hard questions, adult mega-retailer Adam & Eve asked Americans what they’re doing in their free time. Not surprisingly, the majority are dealing with a less-than-ideal economy by taking matters into their own hands.
According to the company’s most recent survey about the sexual habits of American adults, 86 percent admit they participate in self-gratification, with the largest group (20 percent) engaging in the act one or two times per week. The next biggest group of respondents (18 percent) said they masturbate one to three times per month.
A select few are extremely busy flying solo: 18 percent said they masturbate five to six times a week, on a daily basis or more than once a day.
A surprising 17 percent of respondents reported they rarely self-satisfy, and 14 percent said they never participate in the act of masturbation.
“Masturbation is a healthy sexual outlet,” said sex and relationship expert Dr. Kat Van Kirk. “Research shows it can help individuals cope with stress and improve the immune system, and it enhances partnered sex. Masturbation is a great form of preventative medicine.”
Chad Davis, marketing director for Adam & Eve, added, “Whether individuals engage in masturbation in addition to their current relationships or in between relationships, Adam & Eve has a variety of products to make self-gratification even more gratifying.”
The web-based survey, conducted by an independent third-party survey company, included more than 1,000 American adults age 18 and up. It was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices.
