Adam & Eve’s Charitable Giving Totaled $85K in 2010
YNOT – While many adult companies struggled financially during 2010, adult products retail giant Adam & Eve donated a total of more than $85,000 to more than 80 non-profit organizations.
Adam & Eve finished the year’s charitable activities with an American Red Cross fundraiser to benefit the local disaster-relief fund. Other year-end projects included annual drives for Thanksgiving meals, the local Angel Tree program and some specific needy families in Orange County, Calif.
Much of the credit goes to Adam & Eve employees, who raised a large portion of the $85,000. The company matches employee contributions.
Donations benefitted non-profit groups spanning national and international arenas, with the largest amounts going to the American Heart Association, local hospice centers, breast cancer groups and a local animal conservator’s center. Among many others to benefit were local high schools, community groups, social services and animal rescue organizations.
In addition to financial contributions, employees donated time and effort. Some of their causes have become regular beneficiaries of Adam & Eve’s community outreach, like Meals on Wheels, Adopt a Highway, blood drives and condom donations to health-services centers. A shoe drive for the program Soles for Souls benefitted the survivors of the devastating Haitian earthquake.
“Working for a company that cares about the community around them like Adam & Eve really gives me a personal motivation to come to work every day,” said longtime employee Rachel Vigneaux. “Most companies are only concerned with money, money, money, but Adam & Eve is different: They firmly believe in giving back.”
