ACE Warns of Imminent I-9 Audit Notices
YNOT – The Association of Club Executives (ACE), the trade organization for erotic dance club businesses, has issued a warning to its members that the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) department will be delivering I-9 audit notices to about 1,000 businesses across the country.“Club owners or Managers who receive audit notices should make careful note of the date by which a response must be submitted to ICE and contact their immigration counsel as soon as possible to review the subpoena and coordinate their responses,” ACE advised through an alert. “Club executives should avoid any detailed discussion of their I-9 processes with the ICE representative.”
The organization had additional advice for any business owners who are served with notice of an audit. First, accept the service of audit notice. Second, know the delivery date for record and get point of contact information.
ACE is also advising club owners to utilize the expertise of their attorney and refrain from direct detailed discussions with ICE on I-9 or other business processes.
