KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The man accused of setting a Wednesday fire inside an adult store admitted the crime to police fewer than four hours later, telling them he wanted to “eradicate porn.”

The 41-year-old man, whom police have not named, was under arrest before fire crews left the scene of the blaze that gutted Hollywood Nights.

According to police reports, at least two witnesses to the arson told police they saw a “suspicious man” with an ax leave the scene in a light-colored sedan. A sheriff’s deputy spotted a car matching the description of the vehicle and watched the driver ditch an ax in a dumpster. The suspect then led the deputy on a brief chase before crashing his car.

No one was injured in the blaze.
