A New Standard in Porn Oversharing
MUDANJIANG, China – In an age of rampant liking, up-voting and retweeting, a billboard operator in China just set the bar on porn oversharing at a whole new level.
According to the People’s Daily Online, hardcore porn clips were broadcast for at least 10 minutes on a large roadside screen in the city before police arrived to disable the display.
The video, which was accompanied by sound, quickly drew enough attention to ensure photo and video evidence of the mishap immediately began circulating on social media sites and the popular WeChat app. Located directly across the street from a major local hospital, the screen also reportedly drew “several elderly people and young children,” according to a witness identified only as “Mr. Wang” by the People’s Daily.
“How can they play such a content in public?” a shocked Wang asked.
How indeed?
Following a two-day investigation, authorities concluded a man who works for the company that owns the display forgot to unplug his laptop from an output cable, leading him to unwittingly broadcast the porn from his workstation.
The man, who has since confessed, reportedly told police he was unfamiliar with the system and wasn’t aware he was simulcasting smut in the public square. While his explanation has the ring of truth, it may or may not answer all the questions the screen operator may face from his employer, considering the screen is “only used occasionally to broadcast movies at night,” and this incident took place on a Sunday afternoon.
The good news for the unidentified screen operator, oddly enough, is he’s not the only person who has made the mistake. Hell, he’s not even alone in having made the same mistake this month.
According to International Business Times India, people waiting at a public bus stop were treated to a full 30 minutes of pornographic entertainment courtesy of a cable operator who “mixed up his personal USB containing the porn with another drive.”
“There were hundreds of people present,” according to a Reddit user going by the handle dark0range. “Many of the shocked and embarrassed women apparently fled the place.”
The 38-year-old cable operator, identified only as “Manzoor,” faces up to two years in the clink for “obscene and indecent advertisement and display,” as well as violations of the Indecent Representation of Women Act and Information Technology Act.
Forget about the guy in China setting a new bar. Anybody facing two years in an Indian prison for porn oversharing deserves the top spot in the porn-overshare countdown.
OK, all you screen operators from Pakistan to Peoria, Bangladesh to Brazil: The gauntlet has been thrown and the inappropriately exposed balls are in your public court.
Who among you can top the obscene oversharing of the Great Manzoor? Surely there must be massive public screens near the Vatican. Are there really no senile, stoned or otherwise intellectually impaired video technicians who might blunder their way into ignominious digital history?
