A New Perspective on POV Porn
By Peter Berton
NEWARK, Del. – Call it the ultimate in point-of-view content: The Svakom Gaga vibrator comes equipped with a small camera and light at its tip, allowing users to see where the vibrator is providing pleasure — including inside the vagina.
“The simple-to-use touch controls on the vibrating shaft combine with a USB cable that easily plugs into your laptop, allowing you to simultaneously share your stimulation with your partner whether they are next to you or miles away,” according to the product’s webpage.
The Gaga, which shoots high-definition video, offers six vibration modes and can run for eight hours on a single battery charge (which takes about 1.5 hours). The waterproof vibe is encased in a medical-grade silica gel and is manufactured in accordance with “green” standards.
Available in violet, black and khaki, the product sells for a retail price of $180. A safe-for-work demo video is here.
“For a long time sex toys have [been hidden] away in a smutty niche in which the quality and aesthetic seemed as unhealthy and revolting as the sales rooms in which they were presented,” developers Dirk Bauer and Michael Pahl note on the website devoted to their company, Svakom Design Ltd. “Particularly many women, although having clearly shown interest in stimulation, couldn’t find fulfilling satisfaction in unappealing erotic aids.”
Pahl and Bauer set out the change the market in 1996. By 2006, they had founded Svakom, which is “dedicated to the design, research, development, manufacturing and sales of sex toys around the world.” The company now employs more than 2,000 and markets a dozen products in more than 20 countries.
