I am super-picky when it comes to using personal lubricants. Many of the lubes on the market have yucky ingredients like parabens, glycerin and creepy chemicals that shouldn’t go anywhere near the vagina. And, because these lubes are going inside the body, they can be absorbed quickly and spread their toxicity into the bloodstream and eventually cause body burden.

So, my basic rule for lube is this: If I wouldn’t eat it, I won’t use it on my genitals, either.

Aloe Cadabra’s lubes are made with organic aloe vera (95-97 percent of the product is aloe vera, in fact) and all natural ingredients including vitamin E, which is great for the skin. Aloe vera was used in ancient Egypt by Cleopatra and Nefertiti on their skin to enhance their beauty. It contains “mannans, lectins and anthraquinones, all of which are thought to support healing and promote wellbeing. Topical application of the gel is thought to reduce inflammation and skin irritation, by soothing the epidermis… [and it] has antiseptic properties which can assist in reducing infection for minor skin complaints” according to “The Health Benefits of Aloe Vera Gel.”

Aloe Cadabra’s flavored lubes use organic stevia, a natural herbal sweetener, instead of glycerin or sugars, which means women needn’t worry about bacterial infections. The product is preserved with citric acid, which is a natural preservative. Xanthan gum, also a natural ingredient, serves as a thickening agent. Also included are food grade sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate, both of which have very low toxicity and are naturally occurring in berries.

The thickness of these lubes is perfect. Aloe Cadabra products are thick, slightly cloudy gels, and they feel like natural lubricant. They won’t run, and they stay thick and slippery during use. They absorb naturally into the body, leaving absolutely no residue or stickiness.

My partner and I used these lubes for penetration, oral sex, hand jobs and G-spot massage, and in every instance the lube lasted a long time, never got sticky and stayed super-slippery. Just perfect!

I usually dislike flavored lubricants because they taste so unnatural and are overpowering, but Aloe Calabra uses all-natural flavoring, which makes a huge difference in the subtlety of the flavor. These lubes are mildly flavored and taste real.

The Tahitian vanilla variety tastes like real vanilla. The flavor is very mild and slightly sweet. It smells like ambrosia and is delicious — the tastiest lube I have ever tried. Vanilla has been used as an aphrodisiac since ancient times. Certain studies on aromatherapy have proved that vanilla can increase sexual desire by boosting testosterone levels in men, and that the aroma induces feelings of pleasure and contentment. As an anti-inflammatory agent, vanilla has been used to calm and soothe the skin.

The piña colada flavor uses organic concentrate. It is, again, very mild and tastes slightly sweet with a coconut flavor, much like organic coconut oil. The scent is slightly more powerful than the taste, but still very subtle. Delish!

French Lavender scent uses organic lavender oil. It smells exactly like fresh lavender cut from a bush, yet not quite as overpowering as the real thing. Still, more scented than the vanilla and piña colada flavors. I was a bit leery of trying a scented product on my vulva because I am so sensitive. However, lavender oil is great for the skin and has been used for centuries for its natural healing properties (as an antiseptic and antifungal agent) and to soothe cuts, burns and skin irritations. It also promotes skin oxygenation and flushes the skin with blood, which is great for the genitals. As a scent, it has stress-relieving and relaxing properties.

It felt very soothing as a sexual lubricant and was great for masturbation. I had no issues with any type of irritation after use. In fact, I would recommend using it as a daily moisturizer for the vulva and vagina, especially for women who are aging and have issues with natural lubrication. It also makes a great hand moisturizer — just sayin’. It is my favorite Aloe Cadabra lubricant, and I hide it away where my partner can’t find it.

Peppermint Tingle uses organic peppermint oil. I was a bit hesitant about trying it, as I have had issues with other tingling products that used peppermint, mint or menthol in the past. Again, I didn’t have any issues with using this product on my genitals. My partner used it, as well, and really enjoyed the tingling feeling it gave him.

It has a slight cooling sensation when applied which gets a bit stronger as it penetrates. It heightens sensations and would be a great product for men to prolong arousal.

The taste and scent were slightly stronger than the other lubes, but still subtle. It reminded me of those mint chocolate patties. Yum!

Peppermint oil aids in blood circulation, which are great for the penis. In studies, peppermint oil increased pulse rate and blood circulation. Totally lube-alicious!
