2015 AVN Awards Go to 9 Web, Tech Winners
LAS VEGAS – A Saturday night soiree described “one of the most briskly paced shows in AVN Awards history” honored winners in about 130 categories encompassing video, pleasure products, retail, and web and technology. The majority of categories belonged to the video division, with pleasure products, retail, and web and technology containing 10, four and nine, respectively.
The ceremony opened with a video tribute to industry notables who passed away during 2014. Among them: performing icon and activist Gloria Leonard, Evil Angel General Manager Christian Mann, Hot Video magazine founder Franck Vardon, Something Weird Video founder Mike Vraney, photographer Bunny Yeager and producer, director, scriptwriter, magazine editor-publisher and mainstream author phenom Tony Lovett. (Although all were iconic in their own way, the YNOT staff particularly misses Lovett, a publishing comrade-in-arms.)
Others industry insiders who passed away during the past year and were memorialized in the video included Toby Dammit, Cameron Fox, Billy Glide, Heather Joy, Christine Kessler, Armando Malatesta, Jake Malone, Phil Marshak, Shoosh, Paul Snell, Southern Somer and Jim Steel.
